24. Asphyxiate

Instead of going down in a blaze of glory, it comes to a pillow smothered over your face. It’s sad to have your life flash in front of your eyes in such a pathetic way. It wasn’t like she imagined it that was for sure.

From shock, to panic, to finally anger she began to fight back. Kicking and cursing those hands holding the pillow were finally pried off. With the pillow tossed to the side, and aiming a kick to the would-be assassin. A hand grabbed at the nightstand, searching in the darkness for her weapon. Her hand finally grasping a smooth rectangular object, and quickly snapping it open, a flame flickered to life. Asphyxiation was not the way she wanted to have it all end. The flame starting to grow unnaturally larger as her eyes glowed at the defensive silhouette in the darkness.

The flame reached out licking and illuminating the fear in the man’s eyes. In her eyes, there was no mercy, only malice in those brown eyes. Righteously angered at the very idea of being “taken care of” quietly. Those eyes watched without pity as the man was engulfed in that flame, his panic making him run and crash through the window out onto the street below.

A couple of deep breaths and scrounging for some smokes she sat back on her bed and lit the cigarette. A chuckle escaped her lips as she looked at the broken window, red and blue flashes announcing the arrival of the local authorities.

Who really would have thought she’d die by asphyxiation?

76. Malnutrition

Breakfast was never actually food. It was placed in front of her. Always eggs, toast and bacon, but she never touched it. Instead her hand always reached for the green tinted liquid and the pills that were placed beside it.

71. Make

It was dangerous to give her orders, especially when it had nothing to do with her job. An eye would twitch, and her mouth would curl into a snarl to make her face even less attractive. Then there was that growl as she leaned forward and issued her challenge, “Make me.”

53. Date

January 19th.

That would be the day she would die.

25. Aspire

She knew her wishes were laughable to most.

But she still believed in them, for she knew that this life was not hers. Everything about her was owned by someone else, so all that she wanted was to die on her own terms. To die how she wanted, was all she desired. A grim wish, but it was one that she held onto.

14. Speed

To go faster was all that he desired on these rides of his. The rush of adrenaline was better than any drug, and superior in his eyes. Feliu need not slow down as the light switched to yellow; instead a burst of speed was all he needed.

With only the lights that flew past him in streams and only the roar of the engine that he had underneath him. He was happy...

He felt free.

43. Vain

“It wouldn’t kill you to fix yourself up once in awhile.”

Those brown eyes looked up from the coffee cup, a blank look in them. It seemed like a zombie was looking at him with those eyes. The black circles denoting lack of sleep giving her even more of a other worldly appearance. They were both silent staring at each other before he shook his head and looked back at the people passing them on the street.

“Nevermind. Stupid thought.”

33. Call

The phone never rang in the apartment.

Whenever someone needed to contact her, they would call Feliu’s line. If they did not need to talk to her, then it was Feliu. Why there was even a phone in the apartment, or in her room was quiet a mystery. It wasn’t until one Saturday afternoon did she hear it echo down the hall.

The sound had been alien to her, eyes searching for Feliu’s who looked back at her. He also did not know who would call them. It took several moments before either of them stood up, Feliu’s hand reaching for the phone and gracefully brushing blonde hair behind his ear before he placed the receiver there. She listened to his hushed voice for a moment and then a smile reached her face, along with Feliu’s.

Wrong number.

29. Automatic

When something doesn’t look human, the automatic human response is shock.

Instead all she did was toss the kid a pair of pants and a gun. His large hands catching each easily with a blank look in his golden eyes. She didn’t have time for shock. So what that the kid had hair that reached his thighs, so what that he had a pair of horns growing out of his head. There were people at the door trying to kill her, and really appearances were nothing to worry about.

57. Deprecate

It is rare for people to come up to her. They are foolish men and women that do not have common sense to avoid her presence. Their babbling is unimportant, and all she does is sip her coffee, until a question comes up that always makes her smile.

“So what do you do for a living?”

“I kill people.”

73. Master

When you can master something you have power.

To master the ability to control fire, that is the most dangerous and difficult. Fire is a living thing even though it has no pulse. It still can be described as “dying”, and “roaring to life”.

66. Kestral

"Kestral."

"That's his name."

"No... That's his codename."

"So what's his name?"

"... Who would know a stupid thing like that?"

004. Piano

There are always cases of accidents.

Some explainable, others not…

But usually it’s because of someone’s idiocy that people get hurt. An example that Singe liked to bring up often was the case of a man not watching what he was saying. Blabbing his mouth off and making threats to some very dangerous people. He then went off on his merry way, thinking that he had those people cornered.

Really though he should have watched the sky, especially in a large city. Never know when a piano could drop on your head.
